The poet Leandro tries to write a love story, but his ideas are rejected by Fausto. Psychologist Valentina discovers that she has cancer and that she has little time left to live.

Valentina goes through the difficult ordeal of telling her loved ones about her fatal illness. Esther and Leandro come into conflict when discussing the future of Valentina and her family.

Fausto criticizes Leandro's characters. Valentina arranges for Leandro and Milena to travel alone. Leandro makes a decision about Milena. Valentina decides to operate on her cancer.

Tereza starts to have a relationship with Ronaldo. A party with friends gives Valentina a break from her illness. Sandra woos Leandro and causes a scene during the party.

Leandro needs to deal with the advancement of Valentina's illness. The poet and his beloved decide to operate on the tumor. Valentina's patients try to adapt to the new reality without the psychologist.
