Thomas, James and Francis receive an official blessing from Jeremy Clarkson, then head off on their first-ever adventure. During the road trip across southern California, they compare three of the greatest performance cars America has ever created: the Ford Mustang GTD, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Evolution. By racing against fighter jets, obviously.

Thomas, Francis and James journey from futuristic Singapore to the Malaysian highlands to investigate an important consumer question: for less than £5,000, is it possible to buy a sports car that's exciting to drive but also won't break down the whole time?

Following a pub chat with James May, the team head stateside to convince Americans of the brilliance of tiny Japanese Kei cars. And what better way for Thomas, James and Francis to win hearts and minds... than by sneaking off-road around Colorado before tackling the USA's most terrifying hillclimb: the 4,300-metre monster that is Pikes Peak?

The hosts are on a mission to find out the strongest car ever made. After a series of very destructive tests they enlist the help of Richard Hammond to help them crown the winner. Elsewhere, Thomas and Francis test out a classic Alfa Romeo and Subaru that have been 'restomodded' at enormous expense.

It's hypercar versus train as Thomas, James, and Francis race a Pagani Utopia against public transport from Britain to the Belgian Grand Prix, with an urgent delivery for Williams F1 driver Alex Albon. Elsewhere, James uncovers the incredible story of the BMW Isetta and its Cold War heroics.

Thomas, James and Francis head to Angola in a trio of deeply inappropriate track cars, in a bid to discover whether this corner of southern Africa is truly a hidden hotbed of back-to-basics motorsport. Will they discover racing in the wild desert? Or just a whole lot of sand and getting stuck?
